Fed up and ready for a short break – Macclesfield based ‘Roy McCarthy Coaches’ are running an Easter Tour – 18th – 21st April to Rutland – the smallest county in England – Just 20 miles across, packed with interesting places to visit, enjoyable things to do and lots of different ways to relax.
The base for the tour is the pretty town of Oakham and the Old Wisteria Hotel a former hunting lodge, parts dating from 1604, the hotel has now been transformed into a welcoming Country House Hotel and boasts the cottage lounge bar and restaurant and 25 delightful en-suite bedrooms. During the short break there is a visit to Melton Mowbray to see how the famous pies are made, a trip to the historic town of Stamford, and a guided tour around the fascinating county with a Blue Badge,. There is also the option of a boat trip on Rutland Water and a visit Burghley House one of England’s great treasure houses . The tour ends with a visit to Calke Abbey (pictured)the un-stately home and country park on our return. A super little break in a delightful corner of England.
