Guaranteed to make you look healthier and thinner, a gorgeous glow is a summer must have. The safest way to achieve this is by fake tanning. So here are four easy steps to get the perfect glow.
Step 1 – Exfoliate
This is the most important part of the fake tan process as exfoliating is vital to prevent streaks and patches. Don’t think you can get away with just exfoliating the same night as you apply your tan, you should really be exfoliating every day for a week in the run up to application. Also make sure to wax 48 hours before and shave 24 hours before tanning.
Step 2 – Moisturise
Apply body moisturiser and let it dry completely. Make sure to apply a few hours before so it doesn’t prevent the tan from working properly. However right before tanning make sure to put plenty of moisturiser on rough areas such as knees and elbows.
Step 3 – Fake Tan
Apply the tan over your body with a tanning mitt on your hand to prevent palms turning orange. Or an old sock on your hand will do! Do the large areas of the body first, then on the feet, ankles, knees and neck. To give your hands a natural-look, mix tan with body cream/hand cream.
After you have finished avoid wearing any clothes for a further 5-10 minutes or wear loose fitting ones. When it comes to your face apply Vaseline near your hairline and eyebrows to prevent your hair becoming stained. When applying tan to your face, you can use a fake tan that is specially formulated for your face or use your body fake tan and just mix with some moisturiser for a more natural look. Then use bronzer when you apply your makeup.
Be aware that a tan can take several hours to develop so it is best to apply the night before a big event.
Step 4 – Maintenance
Moisturise daily to prolong your tan and exfoliate three days after tanning, so your tan fades evenly.
