Halton has a new Member of Youth Parliament. Thomas Norris, a student at Ashley School Sixth Form in Widnes, was a clear winner in the recent elections held in schools and youth clubs across Halton. He amassed over 700 votes from young people aged 11 – 19 in the borough.
He set out a number of aims during his election campaign: to campaign for votes for 16 and 17 year olds; to do all he can to reduce bus fares and make public transport more accessible for young people; and to actively seek more youth-centred places in Halton.
The 17-year-old also wants to ensure there are better opportunities for all young people.
