Henry Featherstone of Ringway Golf Club beat James Newton (Prestbury) 4 & 2 to win the 2012 Cheshire Matchplay Championship.
Northenden Golf Club were the hosts for the championship played over the weekend of 18th, 19th & 20th May.
The maximum of 64 players took part in a competition, which produced some early shocks.
The first round saw county player Barry Barker (Reddish Vale) dispatched by Bramall Park youngster George Seed at the 19th hole.
Two local players, Dave Nelson and Joe York, beat county players Cameron Massey (Chorlton-cum-Hardy) and Jonathan Little (Heswall) respectively, whilst club mates James Newton and Josh Garside, both of Prestbury, faced each other with Newton emerging as winner by 6 & 5.
The biggest upset of the second round was the defeat of county player and Walker Cup hopeful Oliver Carr (Heswall), beaten by eventual quarter-finalist Alex Pritchard (Wallasey) 3 & 2
