Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is preparing a £38 million bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
The move is seen as a direct replacement for Luis Suarez who the club have just sold for £75 million.
Real Madrid are prepared to sell the French striker but only if their valuation of £43million is met.
Madrid also need money to sign their main target AS Monaco’s Radamel Falcao. If the Colombian star arrives at Santiago Bernabeu, then Benzema will need to be offloaded.
It is, however, by no means certain that the 26-year-old would want to play in the Premier League. He recently told a local sports magazine that he had never been happier in Madrid.
Rodgers is determined to sign a big name replacement for Suarez and has been told that he can spend up to £50 million, which represents the initial down payment by Barcelona on the Suarez deal.
