Manchester City are closing in on a £30 million deal for Porto defender Mangala.
Officials from the two clubs have had talks, but Porto’s valuation of the player, seen as the perfect partner for Vincent Kompany, is around £38 million.
City tried to sign the player in January as part of a double bid which included Fernando, but the talks collapsed over valuations. Fernando was signed earlier in this transfer window for a reported £12 million.
The club have grown use to valuations going through the roof whenever they express interest in the player, but this time around they are able to plead FFP-induced poverty, having seen their overall spending capped under the new regulations.
Local media seem to believe a deal at around £30 million would be acceptable to both clubs, though City may face competition from PSG.
