Drivers are being urged to plan their journeys carefully as a road closure in the north of the borough takes effect.
Part of the A538 Altrincham Road, Wilmslow, will be completely closed off for the next three weekends.
These weekends are; this Saturday and Sunday (August 16 and 17) and the weekend of Saturday and Sunday (August 30 and 31) and the following Saturday and Sunday (September 6 and 7).
The Bank Holiday weekend will not be affected. The closures are from 6pm to 11pm, not during the day. This will enable any shoppers and football traffic to access freely through Altrincham Road. Sunday closures will be from 8am to 5pm.
The 1.5km stretch from Hall Road to 50m past Mobberley Road will be closed for essential resurfacing works from 08.00 until 17.00 hours each day, but the road will be fully open outside of these times.
There are diversions in place and motorists are being warned that this will add time to their journeys, especially towards Manchester Airport.
The planned diversion are:
• A538 Altrincham Rd, Wilmslow, through Wilmslow town centre;
• A34 Kingsway, up to Didsbury;
• A6010 Wilbraham Road/Edge Lane, West Didsbury;
• A5103 Princess Road;
• A560 Altrincham Road, Altrincham;
• A5144 Thornley Lane/Delahay Road, Hale;
